My first orchestra premiere: “LUH!”

They are going to play it at Maison Symphonique! Insane.

The rehearsals have just started for what will end up being my first orchestral premiere. The concert is on April 12, and you can buy tickets here. It’s kind of insane that my first orchestra piece will be premiered at the legendary Maison Symphonique! I’ve come a long way since playing in bars that smell like urinal pucks….although I do enjoy doing that as well. haha

The piece is very much in the tradition of orchestra music I love; coloristic, joyful, and continuously evolving. The first rehearsals were so promising, and I can’t wait to keep working on it. Mathieu Lussier will conduct and, although we haven’t had a whole lot of time to speak, I feel that his musicality and his approach so far is perfect for this. I am continuously amazed by the skills of conductors. The ability for a conductor to digest a score, identify crucial details, and address them in an organized and time-optimized way in rehearsals always impresses and inspires me!

Stay tuned for more details about the piece; I did a short interview about the piece which I will share here when the time comes. In the meantime. Grab tickets and share this moment with me!
